Radiohead releases 7th full album In Rainbows as free download

Radiohead - In Rainbows

After four years of silence Readiohead has finally released their 7th album, In Rainbows, as a name-your-price download on their website.

In terms of digital income, we’ve made more money out of this record than out of all the other Radiohead albums put together, forever — in terms of anything on the Net. And that’s nuts. It’s partly due to the fact that EMI wasn’t giving us any money for digital sales. All the contracts signed in a certain era have none of that stuff.

The Immortals: Fifty Greatest Artists of All Time

Rolling Stone - The Immortals cover

The second he sang the opening lines — “Close your eyes, and I’ll kiss you” — the crowd’s reaction was so intense that it all but drowned the song out … I understood in that moment one of the reasons why the Beatles had to stop performing. The songs weren’t theirs anymore. They were everybody’s.

Elvis Costello on The Beatles

Celebrating the “fiftieth anniversary of rock” (so rock was “invented” in uh, 1957? duh!), Rolling Stone magazine is running a special issue listing the top 50 (rock and roll) artists of all time, with a write-up on each artist by a fellow artist who may have worked with them in the past.

Here’s that list:

Theo Jansen: Modern Day DaVinci Genius?

He calls himself a “Kinetic sculptor”.

For the past fifteen years, Theo Jansen has been creating (growing?) “beach animals” made from commonly available tools like plastic tubing, cardboard boxes, plastic bottles, hose, tape, and all sorts of other stuff.

Watch the clip and be amazed.

Microsoft’s Website Displays Cross-Browser Errors

Looks like even Microsoft’s own website is not free from cross-browser display issues. While I was browsing this page the other day, I could not help but notice a couple of issues which appear to exist in all browsers except for Microsoft’s Internet Explorer.

This is how the page looks like, rendered properly in Internet Explorer 6 and 7 (click on thumbnail for full size):

  • Downgrading A Paypal Premier Account To Personal

After writing about PayPal’s expensive upkeep, I have decided to downgrade my first PayPal account to a Personal one. My plan is to open another PayPal account and make that a Premier / Business account instead, which should be no problem because a UnionBank E-On Visa Electron account only costs 300 Pesos / year, and I am loosing a whole lot more than that for every Premiere PayPal transaction.

To do this, I first logged into PayPal and clicked on Contact Us > Contact Customer Service. Then, I selected My Account > Changing Account Type and typed in something to the effect of “Please downgrade my Premier Account to a Personal one”.

After one week, my account was downgraded and I received this e-mail:

Shopping spree at eBay with my PayPal

I just went on a shopping spree over at eBay with my PayPal. It was so quick and easy compared to when I had to make purchases with just a CC. Thank you, Paypal, for finally supporting the Philippines :)

    Confused Ticketing Agent

    FilipinoTravel

While I was trying to reserve tickets for my cousin I encountered the following message from FilipinoTravel.com’s online reservation form:

(If inside village or beyond Metro Manila +Php 200. We strictly do not accept delivery beyond Metro Manila)

So does this mean that they do not accept delivery, unless we bribe them with 200 pesos?

What happens when a superficially air-headed but supposedly gorgeous babe meets the self-made, rich bachelor? Ownage.

    THIS APPEARED ON CRAIG’S LIST

    What am I doing wrong?

Okay, I’m tired of beating around the bush. I’m a beautiful (spectacularly beautiful) 25 year old girl. I’m articulate and classy.
I’m not from New York . I’m looking to get married to a guy who makes at least half a million a year. I know how that sounds, but keep in mind that a million a year is middle class in New York City, so I don’t think I’m overreaching at all.

Are there any guys who make 500K or more on this board? Any wives? Could you send me some tips? I dated a business man who makes average around 200 - 250. But that’s where I seem to hit a roadblock. 250,000 won’t get me to central park west. I know a woman in my yoga class who was married to an investment banker and lives in Tribeca, and she’s not as pretty as I am, nor is she a great genius. So what is she doing right? How do I get to her level?

    Here are my questions specifically:

    North Park: blacklisted!

    North Park banner

Due to sheer hunger I forgot that I had already banned North Park and so the other day I ended up in it. After 15 minutes of waiting I really wanted to get up and leave but decided to stay out of courtesy. When the food arrived it was like somebody splashed cold water all over me and I was reminded why I vowed never to eat in North Park again.

  • CrossLoop screen sharing freeware and website version 2 out

My favorite free screen sharing software, CrossLoop has just released version 2.0 of their website AND client. The very web 2.0 styled website now features a social networking aspect, complete with a public profile page (here’s mine) and widgets like this:

What’s so cool about the social networking aspect is not only do you promote the Software, you can also promote yourself with the potential to generate profit should you wish to do so (as can be seen in the above example).
