Somebody sent this to me before. I lost the link and tried hard to find the link again. Luckily berg of PW posted the site on the forums. Taken from: http://logologos.blogspot.com/

Smart Communications, Inc., a subsidiary of PLDT and one of the top 2 mobile telecommunications providers in the Philippines, is now among the rebranders of 2008. The difference is subtle yet fairly noticeable even to non-designers.
The old “S” now appears blocky compared to the smooth contour of the new “S”. Gone is the bold blue, replaced with a subdued, more saturated sky blue. The black jagged lines (”radio waves”) are replaced by straight swishes of the same sky blue color. A similar swish is enlarged at the bottom, emphasizing the word “SMART” to complete the effect.

What do I think of the rebranding? I think it looks nice and makes for very “clean” designs, but it lost some of the boldness and professionalism of the old logo.

Just stumbled upon this by accident. I tried to run my web server but it wouldn’t start because apparently port 80 is already taken. So, I tried going to http://localhost and it loads up a blank page. That’s funny … I am pretty sure I don’t have anything running on port 80. I checked IIS: not running. I checked Apache: not running. I try to run Apache on port 80 again. It still won’t start. It still complains that port 80 is already taken. I start killing every application running on my system, checking every time if port 80 is still loading.
Until I hit the jackpot. The culprit: Skype. I kill Skpe, port 80 becomes available. I run Skype, and I get a web server that loads a blank page at port 80. I kill Skype again. Page load error. I do this a couple more times. Yup, Skype definitely runs a web server at port 80.
Two questions formulate in my mind:
Is it gathering information or logging my activities illegally? Freaky.

When Boss Greg directed me to the AsiaPac website, boy was I surprised. For a moment I sat there wondering if my eyes were playing tricks on me. The site looked almost like the old CODESIGN Studios website, which I designed in 2005. See below for a comparison (click on the thumbnails for full image)

Got this in my mailbox today. Apparently it is an article sent by Dr. Arsenio Martin of Fort Arthur, Texas.
Enjoy reading.
THE DIFFERENCE
The difference between the poor countries and the rich ones is not the age of the country:
This can be shown by countries like India& Egypt, that are more than 2000 years old, but are poor.
On the other hand, Canada , Australia & New Zealand , that 150 years ago were inexpressive, today are developed countries, and are rich.
The difference between poor & rich countries does not reside in the available natural resources.
Japanhas a limited territory, 80% mountainous, inadequate for agriculture & cattle raising, but it is the second world economy. The country is like an immense floating factory, importing raw materials from the whole world and exporting manufactured products.

According to Ted Chiang, “Hell is the absence of God”.
According to me, Hell is the conscious denial of God’s presence. For God is everywhere, and without Him there will be no Hell.
Man’s own personal Hell on earth, however, is one’s existence denied by a loved one.
Jesus was put on the cross. Yet, He never denied anybody.
The point is, Hell is man-made.

It’s official. Expression Engine is the easiest CMS ever. For me, at least. I have just implemented Expression Engine to be the backend that will drive the CODESIGN Studios website in under a day. The power and simplicity of EE trumps all other CMS that I have dealt with in the past, and which includes the following:

So there I was wide awake at 2am due to the insane heat (or was it because the 1 1/2 cups of freshly brewed black Folger’s coffee that I had for dinner?) I was thinking of what to do when out of the blue I decided to work on the CODESIGN Studios website. It is long overdue for a redesign and I had been playing around with some ideas over the last few weeks but I could never seem to get satisfied. So what the heck, I thought. I’m going to come up with a simple, one-page layout and use it, or it will probably take me another decade before any redesign takes place. So I focused all my energies and this was the result:
Total hours: 4-6 (from ~2am to ~6am)
Home page design, HTML and CSS development, plus a minor color change in the logo (importing from Corel Draw -> Adobe Illustrator messed up with the original color profile, so I recolored the logo instead)
I need sleep. Badly. ![]()

The last time I have done e-mail campaigns was about 8 years ago, and I never thought I would have to do it again but our company is now trying to offer this solution so now I am trying to get up to speed on the latest trends in email marketing.
When I used to do this back then there were two key issues:
