A day in the life of an audio visual junkie

We all know people like to comment on blogs for SEO purposes. Whenever I read an article that has a comment box in it, I almost automatically think of writing a comment to show some love and get a nice little link back to my website. Of course by default these are NOFOLLOW links, but they are links just the same and help advertise your website. Whenever I do that, I would always try to write something witty. I usually find myself checking out a person’s blog if I find his comment witty or interesting, as opposed to the 298,349,834 other variations of the “nice post, thanks!” crap, which serve no purpose than to pollute the internet with more spammage.
Take for example the five most recent comments on my blog. I know Gnob is Bong and is commenting just to get some link back love. At least he took 10 seconds to type something interesting and contributory, as opposed to the last 2 comments which are basically no brainers you can cut and paste into every damn blog post you can find.
That is why I usually mark these comments as spam. Good riddance!

Awwww … I would normally be flattered, but I bet your bot posted the same thing on the 989,398,398,391 other blogs you tried to spam on
I keep my blog nice and clean though, thanks to a thing called Akismet that blocks spammers and link diggers just like you!

Every now and then I get spam either in my mailbox or in this blog’s comment section that I would seriously like to snap back at but of course they will never get it because these were probably done by bots.
Anyway I thought hey I could have fun ragging on them and at the same time send some negative juju their way … so anyway here goes:

Hey Asia travel! first of all I would like to thank you for the link bait! If your spam bot grew a brain maybe he would realize that you were commenting on a nonsense post that has very little to do with the cost of travel in Asia. You may want to know that your comment got automatically sent to my spam bin, which means that 1) it never saw the light of day and 2) your automated link baiting WordPress site is already blacklisted by Akismet’s filters, which means it won’t be too long before your site gets flushed down the drain by Google. Good riddance.

It wasn’t so long ago that I read a Mashable article on Twitter: The Evolution of Cat Blogging, and I thought geez, who in their right mind would twit or even blog about their cat? I mean, don’t we have enough cat photos and vidios … vedios … I mean videos of cats already? Boring. Next topic please.
Well guess what, I just found another one of them:

On October 9-10, 2007 will be held the first Philippine Search Engine Marketing Conference (SEMCON). Happening at one of my favorite hotels, the Manila Intercontinnental Hotel, the 2-day conference covers topics ranging from:
search engine marketing, search engine optimization, pay-per-click, conversion optimization, web analytics, viral & word-of-mouth marketing and social media & community-driven marketing (taken off the SEMCON website)
Perhaps the main attraction of the said event is the keynote speaker, renowned blogger and search engine marketing guru Aaron Wall, of SEO Book fame.
The ticket price is a bit on the heavy side — 8,500 PhP for the 2-day conference, inclusive of meals and the conference kit. Marc Macalua, SEO Philippines founder and organizer, is giving away free tickets to the said event. All one has to do is blog:
I personally would love to get a free ticket, for two reasons:
I know I will definitely be able to put all of this to good use, being an active netizen and a web developer in real life, where SEO is one of those skills that help you excel.
Interested in participating? Check out the official website or download the SEMCON fact sheet.
