A day in the life of an audio visual junkie

My favorite free screen sharing software, CrossLoop has just released version 2.0 of their website AND client. The very web 2.0 styled website now features a social networking aspect, complete with a public profile page (here’s mine) and widgets like this:
What’s so cool about the social networking aspect is not only do you promote the Software, you can also promote yourself with the potential to generate profit should you wish to do so (as can be seen in the above example).
The new website is definitely a huge leap from the old one (which was a plain brochureware type site).
I wish I could say the same for the client though. My main issue here is on a new PC I did a clean install of the CrossLoop version 2 client and when I tried to do a session with my friend, it just hung after connecting to the CrossLoop servers. I am not sure what the issue is, but here’s how I solved this:
I first installed the old client and then I tried a session both as a host and as a client — both works smoothly just as before.
Then, I re-installed version 2.0 and everything started working just as it should. Weird.
Another issue with new client is that you cannot change the access code for both the Access and Share mode.
This is no problem with Share mode, but it is very inconvenient under Access mode since you will have to tell the person whose machine you are trying to access to change the share name to your share name, so either the client or the host needs to log out in order to change the access or share name.
Finally, it appears that skinning is no longer built into CrossLoop 2.0, a good move as skins never really mattered much and switching to a skin in the old version would always crash CrossLoop (at least in my case)
CrossLoop just keeps getting better and better. Especially when compared to alternatives like LogMeIn, GoToMyPc, or TeamViewer (my old favorite before I discovered CrossLoop), there is huge potential for CrossLoop to dominate the free screen sharing / social networking market. Keep up the good work team!
Update: see below for a video demo of the CrossLoop software
Update: version 2 sometimes slows down to a crawl
no such problems on version 1
