A day in the life of an audio visual junkie

eBay’s long overdue redesign has finally gone live, and I am loving the new look. Here are the things that I have noticed so far:
The people in charge of the new interface did a sweet job of arranging islands of information into an organized manner.

Information is now easier to find. This guide shows just how easy it is to find and navigate through relevant information in the new site.

The subtle yellow gradients achieve a pleasing effect, and the even color distribution is and a lot easier on the eyes, compared to the old design where bold yellow makes certain areas appear to jump out at you:

Fluid-width design allows for more data to be displayed and results in a lot of white space, unlike the old fixed-width design which looks tight and cramped.

The new site makes extensive use of CSS, yet it could not do away with tables as can be seen the below screenshot taken from Firebug’s HTML browser.

All in all, an excellent effort at modernizing the eBay website.
