HP updates security, supports cloud and BYOD with Virtual Application Networks
At a press conference held at the Intercontinnental Manila today, HP presented the updated HP Virtual Application Networks solutions which include improvements in security, cloud, and BYOD (bring your own device). The product provides enterprises running on legacy, CLI-driven (command line interface) networks with an upgrade path towards the next generation. HP Expands Virtual Application Networks with New Solutions for Security, Cloud, and BYOD
New offerings simplify management of device, application and security across the enterprise
MANILA, Philippines — HP today announced HP Virtual Application Networks solutions that simplify mobile device access, automate secure site-to-site connectivity and improve rich media application performance across the HP FlexNetwork architecture.
Introduced at Interop Las Vegas, the new offerings include modules for HP Intelligent Management Center (IMC), to simplify on-boarding, provisioning and monitoring of employee-owned devices across wired and wireless networks. The new HP Dynamic Virtual Private Network (DVPN) enables the automation of secure network connectivity to any location. The company also introduced a high-performing HP 10500 campus core switch that delivers industry-leading throughput for rich media applications.
Legacy network infrastructures typically lack the flexibility, scalability and automation to support the growing number of employee-owned devices connected across wired and wireless networks. Maintaining bandwidth-intensive rich media applications like web conferencing and providing secure connectivity from site to site also pose problems within these legacy networks.
Companies embracing video are seeing their network capacity requirements expand by four times or more when compared to historical rates. Similarly, it is forecast that the connected device market will grow at more than 50 percent compound annual growth rate (CAGR) from 2015 to 2020.

Simplifying BYOD initiatives
By 2020, 50 billion devices will be connected to wireless networks and today, more than 60 percent of enterprises are unsure which mobile devices are on their network. With users increasingly bringing their own devices to work, organizations must avoid risk to operations by ensuring the on-boarding of devices on the network is controlled and secured regardless of device type across wired and wireless connections.
To provide secure application access to employee-owned devices without putting the organization at risk, HP IMC for unified wired and wireless networks simplifies management with a single platform to on-board, provision and monitor both company- and employee-owned devices for consistent and predictable user application experience.
Automate secure connectivity for the branch offices
Configuring, managing and delivering secure connectivity to branch locations may require months of effort and expense by local IT resources for the typical enterprise. HP has automated the configuration process of setting up and deploying virtual private networks by enabling a “zero touch” deployment of routers across enterprise locations through HP IMC using the new HP DVPN solution—an industry-first capability. HP IMC provides visibility of each device on the network with a single-pane-of-glass management and virtualization platform that spans the HP FlexNetwork architecture.
With HP DVPN, enterprises can reduce IT complexity by 93 percent, enabling organizations to save operational costs, accelerate the deployment of secure connectivity to any location and provide a consistent rich media application experience for users across wired and wireless devices.
Accelerating application performance on campus networks
An increase in the number of mobile devices, rich-media communications and cloud applications connected on campus networks is slowing application performance due to limited bandwidth and network delays. Clients require a higher-performing network that is scalable to deliver consistent and reliable rich media content to users.
The HP 10500 Series switch increases application performance of rich media like voice and video with 75 percent lower latency and 1,090 percent greater throughput than the competition. It also delivers 526 percent higher 10GbE port density to eliminate network bottlenecks and improve bandwidth. The HP 10500 supports four-port 40 GbE with the addition of new line cards and uses HP Intelligent Resilient Framework, an HP innovation that allows multiple switches to be virtualized and operate as a single switch.
