Nexcare, Futuro emphasize safety in sports with support for the Chelsea Football Club and The Younghusband Football Academy
Nexcare™ and Futuro® took its information campaign about injury prevention and care higher by renewing its partnership with the Younghusband Football Academy and its support for the Chealsea Football Club Soccer School Philippines.
The soccer camp, run by the Chelsea Football Club of the Premier League of England in collaboration with The Younghusband Football Academy (TYFA) was launched May 15 at the SM Mall of Asia. It aims to train more aspiring Filipino football players and generate greater football awareness in the Philippines.
Ian Woodroffe, Chelsea’s International Development Manager and Adrian New, Chelsea Managing Director for Asia flew from England to share their football expertise with 200 kids from the TYFA. Chelsea FC has also conducted similar soccer schools in Singapore, Bangkok and Kuala Lumpur.
“We believe in a long term plan for football. Success definitely doesn’t happen overnight, but if you look at the three year development of Philippine football so far, it has been amazing. The challenge now is to sustain the gains by creating more opportunities for the children.” said Phil Younghusband, a proud Chelsea Soccer School graduate.
Nexcare™ and Futuro® vowed to support the football effort by providing ready access to first-aid products and injury support goods at the playing venues. Nexcare™ and Futuro® are creating awareness about the importance of injury prevention and care via support products that address specific physical conditions.
“We want to ensure the safety of players in the extremely physical football sport. As the leading innovator in medical care, Nexcare™ and Futuro® promote safety in sports by developing product innovations that protect athletes and physically active individuals from common sports related injuries,” said Ralph Joseph Catalan, Head of 3M Consumer Health Care Division.
James Younghusband, also a Chelsea Soccer School graduate, said the need for proper warm up exercises before games and the wearing of proper gear that can prevent muscle strains and other football injuries are essential in football and other high-contact sports.
