Life, the Universe, and Everything

A day in the life of an audio visual junkie

With all the media buzz surrounding Google’s revelation that it has been collaborating with MySpace, LinkedIn, Friendster, Ning, and other social networks to come up with an Open Social — an API that will allow developers to create programs that will work across supporting social networks, a lot of baseless comments and even full length articles are popping up from very reputable sites that this is Google (and MySpace’s) “answer” to the Microsoft and Facebook tie-up.

I wasn’t even planning to post about Britney’s latest album but since she mentions the Philippines I guess I’ll return the favor.

In her latest album entitled “Blackout”, Britney Spears mentions the Philippines as part of the refrain of her track entitled “Piece of Me”. It’s track #2 of the album, right after “Gimme More” so it’s not hard to miss.

I’m Miss American Dream since I was 17
Don’t matter if I step on the scene
Or sneak away to the Philippines
There still gon’ be pictures of my derrière in the magazine
You want a piece of me?
You want a piece of me…

GMail logo

I previously blogged about GMail’s support. I was so excited. But after trying it out the excitement died down quickly and I went back to the good old web-based GMail interface.

Here’s the lowdown:

Filipinos clamoring for justice for Glorietta 2 blast victims

    This just in:

National Police chief Director General Avelino Razon Jr on Tuesday said foreign explosives experts who conducted their own investigation into the October 19 blast at Glorietta 2 in Makati City have ruled out any bomb angle behind the incident.

Interviewed on the sidelines of an antiterrorism drill at Camp Bagong Diwa in Taguig City, Razon said President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo had been briefed on the reports submitted by the explosives experts from Australia, Israel and the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI).

“Based on the evidence and the facts that were gathered from the scene…edivence shows that it (blast) was an accidental gas explosion,” Razon told reporters.

So if it was a gas leak, what triggered it? What about the traces of RDX? Can a gas leak really cause such a huge explosion? We need answers!!

I previously blogged about the incident here: Glorietta 2 Bombing (with Videos) and here: A Letter From Carlo Cruz, Glorietta Blast Victim

I received a forwarded e-mail authored by Carlo Cruz, husband of Leslise Cruz who died in the Glorietta blast. Let us pray for her and for her family.

Billion Dollar Wiki, a site that started last October 11, has apparently been “sold” for $1 billion to the Chinese. At least I got to laugh for five seconds.

I’ve just returned from Beijing, where after days of negotiations, I have sold Billion Dollar Wiki for $1 billion - and yes, I’m talking about US dollars.

I have already received a deposit of $100 million, so I know these guys are legitimate.

Let me guess. This “business plan” is similar, if not exactly like, the Million Dollar Wiki. Duh.
