Life, the Universe, and Everything

A day in the life of an audio visual junkie

Billion Dollar Wiki, a site that started last October 11, has apparently been “sold” for $1 billion to the Chinese. At least I got to laugh for five seconds.

I’ve just returned from Beijing, where after days of negotiations, I have sold Billion Dollar Wiki for $1 billion - and yes, I’m talking about US dollars.

I have already received a deposit of $100 million, so I know these guys are legitimate.

Let me guess. This “business plan” is similar, if not exactly like, the Million Dollar Wiki. Duh.

  • I’m now using Twitter Updater by Victoria Chan

Okay I had to edit the Plugin to get it to work. Here is what I did:

    • Go to your Twitter Updater options, and enter your username in ‘Your Twitter account details’ where it asks you for your email address.
    • Go to edit the file called wp-content/plugins/twitter_updater/twitter_updater.php and find ‘function vc_doTwitterAPIPost’. Change that function entirely to the below.

    Testing Twitter for My Blog

I’m using Twitter Tools plugin by Alex King. Is it working?

An interesting take on Microsoft’s recent purchase of 1.6% of Facebook.

    FTA:

Microsoft doesn’t value Facebook at $15 billion. It values 1.6% of Facebook and an expanded and extended ad deal at $240 million. That’s it. You can’t ignore the ad deal and magically come to a $15 billion valuation.

Convicted president Joseph Estrada is a free man.

President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo granted pardon to the 70-year-old deposed leader following a recommendation by the Department of Justice (DoJ), Press Secretary Ignacio Bunye said in a press conference on national television.

The wait is over, folks. Gmail finally gets IMAP support! Many of us have waited a very long time for this feature. Personally I thought this would never happen, since this will take away users from the web-based Gmail interface, which is where Google makes money from adsense.

    Blog Action Day Followup

Marikina River Park photo by Parc Cruz

I wrote a response on Jeff McIntire’s blog which I would like to share with all of you:

I am proud to say that I live in the “greenest” Philippine city, Marikina City. We have very good waste collection and management system. Garbage cans can be seen everywhere, bicycle lanes, clean surroundings, etc thanks to our Mayor. Our city used to be ugly and polluted, but over a span of 5-15 years it evolved into what it is right now. This just goes to show that change CAN happen if good people and great leadership!

Oil firms hike prices by P0.50

Thank goodness I was able to gas up (with Petron) the day before the hike. And all the while there I was trying to drive conservatively … I did 10.6 kms to a liter last week on my 1.6 Honda Civic and all they had to was increase oil prices.

Now I’m REALLY starting to consider getting a condo in Makati. Sheesh!

    Glorietta 2 Bombing (with Videos)

Friday October 19, 2007 (around 1:10PM, GMT+8) will forever be remembered as a day of mourning as Glorietta, one of the biggest malls in the heart of Makati City, the Philippines’ most progressive city, suffers one of the most terrorizing explosions in the country’s history.

This is probably the best footage out there, taken just right after the blast. The person who did this is admirably courageous. You can see his effort to keep trying to get as close as he could until the smoke got the better of him.
