I have been using Paypal for online transactions for 4 years now. In 2007 I blogged about using my Union Bank E-On debit card with Paypal. Back then, PayPal wasn’t even fully supporting the Philippines yet. It was only over a year ago when Paypal started rolling out support for the Philippines.
Now, I use PayPal for almost all of my online transactions. This includes paying for online shopping, web hosting, domain registrations. I even use it for my online camera accessories business in the Philippines.
Recently we ran into some difficulty linking my friend’s Banco de Oro (BDO) account to PayPal. Apparently, PayPal needs a bank code, and it wasn’t accepting the 8-digit code that BDO gave us (Paypal requires 9 digits). As it turns out, the 8-digit code is the swift code, which is different from the bank code which Paypal needs.
Fortunately, we were able to locate a list of Philippine bank codes from eBay.
