On October 9-10, 2007 will be held the first Philippine Search Engine Marketing Conference (SEMCON). Happening at one of my favorite hotels, the Manila Intercontinnental Hotel, the 2-day conference covers topics ranging from:

search engine marketing, search engine optimization, pay-per-click, conversion optimization, web analytics, viral & word-of-mouth marketing and social media & community-driven marketing (taken off the SEMCON website)

SEO Book

Perhaps the main attraction of the said event is the keynote speaker, renowned blogger and search engine marketing guru Aaron Wall, of SEO Book fame.

The ticket price is a bit on the heavy side — 8,500 PhP for the 2-day conference, inclusive of meals and the conference kit. Marc Macalua, SEO Philippines founder and organizer, is giving away free tickets to the said event. All one has to do is blog:

  1. convince us, the organizers why you deserve these tickets and
  2. what you will do with the tips you’ll pick up at the conference.

I personally would love to get a free ticket, for two reasons:

  1. First, I am short of moolah so I will never get to attend the conference unless somebody sponsors me
  2. Second because I am certain that I will benefit and learn a lot from the conference, as my SEO knowledge is very rudimentary and limited to advise from friends and techniques gleamed from other websites

I know I will definitely be able to put all of this to good use, being an active netizen and a web developer in real life, where SEO is one of those skills that help you excel.
