Heads up lang about the Paypal thing: you’ll need an extended use number that you can get by calling Unionbank first. Hindi naman siya hassle. Good luck!

Yes, the extended number is required by Paypal for verification and it does need to have funds because Paypal will withdraw and give back $1.65.

I got an Eon too.
Wanted to start out with a Debit Card for practice before I go out and venture into the world of Credit Cards.

However, I’m not an online purchaser. I’m more concerned about swipe payments like at the mall or resto, is there a service charge or additional percentage charge for that?

I do know however that the maximum charge per transaction is 20k at a daily cap of 40k.

The lady at the bank did not seem to understand what I meant when I asked if there are any fees for POS (”swipe”) transactions. Anyone know?

Actually, I finally was able to make use of the POS swipe of the Eon. Had lunch with some friends at Max’s in Baclaran, it works! And best of all, no service charges!

Whataever was on our bill, that was what was taken off my Eon account, so one of my questions have been answered

Using it as an ATM doesn’t seem very efficient since there is a charge no matter what ATM machine after the 3rd withdrawal.

2 more sucessful POS transactions! I trated my girl to lunch at North Park Alabang Town Center, then bought my mom’s meds at Mercury Drug (ATC and Times since ATC was out of stock or one of the meds I needed).

So far so good! But it was kind of nervewrecking because most establishments (If not all) seem to not have ever seen an Eon Debit card, so they had that “What the heck is this?” look on their face when I handed it to them for payment. Then the cashier at Mercury Drug didn’t seem to know what she was doing, with the Swipe machine.

But it’s all good! I just checked my account online even as I was writing here, and everything is in order!

Dude! Those are US Online stores, there are still S&H charges for that. Besides, the reason I’d rather at CDR King (or the MP3 Store) is that I can always track them down easily if ever something goes wrong with it!

Online purchases freak me out, honestly. I work at a Callcenter, and some of the online transaction errors that the callers complain about are.. well, not very comforting. So maybe not, atleast not yet.

No. they are not US sellers, they are based in hongkong. I have already purchased 3 items online… and all those stuffs arrived and delivered directly in my house and i paid only P35 for custom fees. just make sure to avail of shipping insurance that is for if something goes wrong with the shipping. i have to admit that i had problems before when i made my first purchase online… but it was all settled, i found out that as buyer you are protected, you can always file a complaint or a dispute, specially if you have a paypal account and you bought your item on ebay, i think you are more protected , i think no matter what, you will never lose your money. you can always ask for a refund if something goes wrong.

PayPal does not display a support e-mail address. You have to go through the Customer Service menu and send them a note from the website.

Yes you can send money to Xoom via PayPal but won’t you end up loosing a lot of money from the transfer fees and conversion rate (Xoom has a very low conversion rate). I checked Xoom and they charge $20 for every transfer. It may be more or less than that depending on whether you choose to receive money in PHP or USD. It may be more, but I am not too familiar with the charges because I am usually at the receiving end and I let my senders absorb the transfer cost

How far is the Unionbank branch from you? Kung malapit lang, go ahead and check on Wednesday if not go on Thursday instead.

The E-On account is a peso account. I have no idea if there is a dollar account equivalent, I doubt it. You may deposit USD checks but they will be converted to PHP at the prevailing market rate on the day of your deposit.

I haven’t tried Paypal’s affiliate program lol. My adsense earnings are peanuts, unfortunately.

To do this, kindly go to the ATM Machine of UnionBank and insert your card, then look for enroll your card online banking, after that u will receive a receipt… Then wait for the 5 working days, u may now add your eon card at paypal…. next follow the steps given by the paypal after u add a card…

You were correct in choosing Visa. What is the exact error message when you try to add the card to Paypal?

You will need the “extended use” number to activate your PayPal account. Just log into your account, there should be a notice there that links to a wizard where you will enter that number and activate your account.

The card is already active the moment you receive it. You just have to put funds into it before you can use it, since it is a debit card.

The three-digit number at the back of your card is the “verification” code for your card. Some credit card processors will ask for this number before processing a transaction as an additional security layer to prevent credit card fraud.

pero nung try nming iwithdraw ung pera sa card nya thru ATM… “Invalid Card Number” yata or something na sinasabi na may error sa card nya… then… he requested to the bank na ipaggawa n lng xa ng panibagong account… kc may problema sa existing card nya… and after mareceive nya ung card and of course… naghintay ng week… try ulit nmin apply sa paypal.. and un n nga… verified user n sya…

it means.. nasa card ung problema nung sa knya… try mo ung sau kung ganun din…

yes,my card functions well.it can withdraw from any atm and i can access it from online banking.

hi.. i just got my eon card last week, it was a wednesday. i already signed up for internet banking too. after 48 hours of registering my account worked, i was able to check on the deposit i made. this evening, i went to mall of asia burger king. on the cashier there was a visa logo, so i thought of using my eon visa debit on gettin my dinner. before ordering i double checked it with the cashier on duty. he even double checked it with his manager and the manager said yes they do accept, so i handed them over my eon. when the cahsier was swiping it i was waiting for like a couple of minutes. then the cashier went back and told me that my card isnt working. so i got ashamed. i thought it was already activated that’s why i tried it on my meal. how come it dint work? u guys have any idea why? its activated automatically already right? or do i still have to activate it? could you guys help me out coz i dunno be ashamed again if it doesnt go when i use it again.. help me pls. thanks.

hiningi ko pa sa unionbank hotline (84186) ung details ng EON account ko (pati punctuations) pero no go pa rin. just the other day sabi nila may problem daw since monday ang Visa cardholders (EON included) sa Paypal kaya di makapag-transact or ma-verify accounts natin. intay na lang daw.

nakakainis, di ko tuloy makuha ung pera ko kahit may registered bank account na ako sa paypal.

@erick Paypal checks if the address you use is the same as the address in your bank. Make sure the two are the same.

@ram if you have done what was suggested in the previous posts,re your eon if you can already go to an atm and check your balance (or withdraw) and you can also check your eon transaction online (meaning you already can do internet banking) then there really is nothing else you can do except wait.
The error you are getting is just the interface between paypal and unionbank. For some reason everytime paypal tries to link your account to your credit card unionbank still denies it. Remember that this (unionbank) is all processed manually in cebu. Just be patient

@ louie actually if you have money sa paypal ( somebody paid you through paypal) you can use that money to buy anything online that accepts paypal. Remember that for you to move your money to your eon account you have to withdraw it from paypal to your eon account.

Just got my bank account credited with the Paypal bank transfer. Aside from the P50.00 deducted by Paypal for less than P7000.00 withdrawals, there is also a P150.00 transfer charge from BPI. I initially thought that only P50.00 was to be deducted.

The reason why some places cannot accept the Visa Electron card is that the Visa Electron card instantaneously checks your account to see whether you have sufficient funds for the transaction. In other words, the terminal has to have the capability to do so, otherwise it will not work.

However, the card should work in most places where Visa cards are accepted, and it works online.
(this is coming from a few years experience with Visa Electron cards in other countries).

Anshley I suggest you just go for it. Maintaining an EON card is inexpensive, only 300 bucks a year. What have you got to loose?

I prefer personal account kasi kapag premier ang account mo you get charged by a certain percent. I think it was around 3% per transaction. This is the main reason why I contacted customer service and downgraded my account back to personal.

Kung pambili lang ng hosting ang purpose mo you can just find a hosting company that accepts Paypal payments. Madami dyan sa tabi tabi. Ang purpose naman ng E-On ay para magamit mo siya locally at para ma withdraw mo yung pera mo through ATM.

E-On Visa is a debit card because you can only make a purchase using money you have previously deposited, like an ATM account which by the way, an E-On also is.

Warning ko lng sa mga new eoncard holders …type correctly the expuse/4 digit paypal code kasi pagnakamali kayo ma disable automatically and card therefore mahihirapan naman kayo mag add ng another card. Yon lang po .

Sir Dennison Uy! naka pag apply n din ako knina. Pag pala mg aapply ka sa banko mismo buti dnala ko ung xerox copy nung birth certificate at pnphoto-copy ko na din school I.D ko. Sabi nung nakausap ko na employee sa unionbank nung ng apply ako knina 2weeks daw bago ko pwd kunin ang tagal naman wahaha.

Hi Sherry! The Unionbank EON card costs 300 pesos. You can apply for the card online and just pay for it at the branch you wanted it delivered to.

just 350 pesos and when you claim your card deposit atleast 200 pesos so all in all 550 is enough

here is the step when the time you will be claiming your card bring some 200php with your pocket and tell to the counter you will deposit 200pesos then after that

go home and register your cyber account and you won’t be able to login afterwards you need to wait for 3 days ( in my case) so that you can login you will know that your account(cyber account) is activated once you be able to enter into your cyber account

then once your cyber account is activated go to paypal add your card then paypal will charge your card 95 pesos rounded off and go to your cyber account you will be seeing your expuse ( the 4 digit thing) visaXXXX like that and put that code into your paypal and then voila! tagumpay hahaha

Hello, there! anyone here? I like to ask on what to do if we forgot our user name on our eon cyberaccount log in. Can the unionbank staffs knows? or better ask the customer hotline. I try to call the hotline today but I never got in to their line, I use my cellphone though.

Like what Elaine here posted, I am having problem with my withdrawal to my eon account. Paypal said the transaction was completed (that was Dec. 31, 2008) but until now I have not received the money at my eon account.

I have read many posts on the same problem but none of them suggested how to resolve the problem or how they eventually got their money (or not). Please help, thanks.

Congratulations on getting Paypal to recognize your E-On Card! You only need to add your card once. You do not have to add it again unless you want to change the card.

From what I recall, Unionbank will automatically renew your E-On card if you have enough funds in your account (350 pesos / year). I will verify this when I visit the bank next week.

It depends per branch. Most banks are closed on Saturday but if the branc is located inside a mall most likely it is open on Saturdays. The branch’s schedule is usually posted on the front door. Have you visited them lately?

I have already activated my EON account online, it says that, i have to wait for 48hours to log-in.

For people with this problem:
“This credit card has been denied by the bank that issued your credit card…”

Be sure na may laman na yung card mo at least 200 pesos. So deposit ka any near unionbank branch. Then verify it. After you verify login to unionbank account and get the 4-digit code dun sa accounts area. Then enter this code dun sa paypal mo.

Im so happy kasi kanina lng ako deposit then verify and ngayon OK na! yahoo! Goodluck

@Jake maybe you should try their customer service hotline 84-186.

Called them up at least 3 times today and I only got dropped once.

The rest of the calls went very smoothly and the customer service representative on the other line was courteous and very helpful.

Sad thing though is that my credit card still kept getting declined for some reason.

I was trying to activate my AdWords account using my E-On card.

I am sure I entered my billing details correctly.

I tried at least 30 times, always declined … it’s frustrating!!!

My paypal account is Limited now.i try to withdraw my money about 12k to my EON CARD and then after a day it was reversed to my paypal account.Have you try this situation? @Laurie the annual fee for the Unionbank E-On card is only 300 pesos. I think that’s a small price to pay for being able to withdraw money from PayPal!
