HP Philippines unveiled today the HP Mission Control and Customer Experience Center (MCC) and the HP Executive Briefing Center (EBC). The inauguration was attended by Philippine President Benigno Simeon “Noynoy” Aquino III, who powered up the site experiencing first hand the capabilities being offered by the high tech facility. Situated in Taguig City, Philippines, the world-class facility is the first of HP’s planned six global delivery hubs. A similar site will be going live in Bulgaria next month. Full roll-out of all six sites is targeted for 2014.
As HP’s first “global delivery center”, the facility was built from ground up with a service oriented architecture in mind. HP caters to Fortune 500 companies, so special care was taken to “get things right”. This means taking into consideration industry best practices such as ISO, ITIL, CMMI, and Six Sigma.
Site director Noel Mendoza gave a tour of facility, located on the 12th floor of the Intellectual Property Center in McKinley Hill, Taguig. The interiors are themed with shades of green, which exudes a feeling of freshness. In addition, green naturally aligns with HP’s directive to be an environment friendly organization.
Perhaps the most exciting room in the posh facility is the Mission Control Center. About the size of two average board rooms, it is situated strategically at the far end of the main production area. A two way mirror allows its occupants to view the floor’s activities, while remaining concealed to those on the other end. When switched off, the two-way mirror becomes opaque, resembling a car’s tinted window.
The Executive Briefing Center looks like a war room straight out of a Hollywood film. It is outfitted with a state-of-the-art video conferencing system allowing real-time communication and information sharing with other video conferencing systems in the world. The new system is flexible enough to be compatible with different video conferencing systems installed worldwide.
Formerly called “Halo”, HP custom built an advanced, proprietary video conferencing system. Joining forces with industry leader Polycom, the system is hooks up to high definition cameras equipped with voice sensors that focuses on the active speaker. HP engineered a display system that can stitch multiple screens together at different sizes. The result is projected on the wall – with so many things happening at once the result is a very busy, multi-panel display a-la “Minority Report”.
HP’s top executives revealed their confidence in the Filipino talent, one among the many reasons for choosing to build the first global delivery center in the country. Aside from outsourcing, HP wishes to tap the Philippine market, particularly the government and public sector.
