Netopia is bringing the cybercafe experience to the next level. Partnering with Vietnam’s Highlands Coffee, Netopia outlets will be redeveloped into “lifestyle hubs” that offer more than just Internet and computer services.
Sporting a different look, the new Netopia will have a more pleasant ambiance and offer coffee as well as an expanded set of products and services. Netopia also invested heavily in re-branding, coming up with a new, modern-looking, logo that bears no resemblance to its old one.
Earlier this year Digital Paradise Inc. (DPI) secured a P200-million loan from the Hong Kong Shanghai Bank Corp (HSBC) to fuel its restructuring. DPI is the operator of the Netopia chain of Internet cafes and a recently-acquired subsidiary of technology group IP E-Game Ventures.
With its new business model, Netopia will be competing with established coffee shops like Starbucks, Seattle’s Best, Le Figaro, and Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf. Coffee prices start at P59, which is a lot less than the competition. Combined with high-speed internet access, powerful computers, and a relaxing ambiance, the new Netopia sets itself apart from regular Internet shops and coffee parlors. By providing value for money, DPI is on the right track to gaining a good share of the coffee-drinking, Internet-savvy market.
Bearing exclusive rights to distribute Highlands Coffee in the Philippines, DPI is partnering with coffee shop operators such as Café Republiq located inside Resorts World Manila. The expanded menu includes hot and cold beverages based on coffee, fruit, and tea.
