I was really amazed at the Dell XPS when it first came out of the market. Ultra-thin and ultra portable, the Dell XPS 13 debuted January of this year, while the Dell XPS 14 made its way into the market around August. Now one might wonder whatever happened to the Dell XPS 12? Perhaps Dell jumped the numbering scheme on this one, but the Dell XPS 12 has finally entered the fray, debuting as a 12.5-inch convertible, fully touch enabled Ultrabook / tablet PC.
What is so exciting about the Dell XPS 12 aside from its form factor is that it is the first Dell Ultrabook to come with Windows 8, the latest and greatest iteration of the Windows operating system from Microsoft. Windows 8 was built with multi-touch input in mind, and sports the new start panel reminiscent of what can be seen in mobile devices like iOS, Android, and Windows Mobile. By rotating the display users can easily switch between tablet and notebook mode, depending on the circumstances.
Another thing that excites me about the Dell XPS 12 is the use of Gorilla Glass in its full-HD (1920×1080 pixels) display. Scratch-proof surfaces are a must for any touch enabled device, and the Dell XPS 12 is no exception. Want more? Check out the teaser video below!
Built primarily for users on the go, the Dell XPS 12 is no slouch, featuring 3rd generation Intel Core processor, Intel HD 4000 graphics, up to 8 Gigabytes of RAM, and up to 256 Gigabytes solid state (SSD) storage.
Best of all, Dell Philippines is now introducing on-site services. As long as your under warranty, Dell promises to fix your machine at your location within a reasonable time depending on the service level agreement (SLA). I am not sure if any other PC manufacturer offers such a service in the country – this may be a first, and it is definitely one thing worth considering.
An entry level Dell XPS 12 costs 65,990 PHP. Check it out at an authorized dealer near you!
