For only 2,100 pesos you can create your own surf and turf experience – twice a week, every Friday and Saturday. In addition to the standard stations, you will find two specialized stations – one for ‘surfing’, and another for ‘turfing’. Craving for the freshest lobsters, tuna, shrimps, and shellfish? Head over to the surf station. Feeling carnivorous? Grab yourself some fine cuts of lamb, pork, beef, and chicken at the turf station.

After picking out your favorite seafood and meat, head over to the one of the stations to have it cooked the way you like it.

My favorite would be the grilling station. The guys there do a splendid job of grilling anything, from a rare beef medallion to a well done lamb chop. Very tasty.

I do a lot of cooking at home and feel very comfortable in the kitchen. If I were building a house, I will make sure to have a beautiful kitchen – but that’s another story. This is why I can truly appreciate the open kitchen setup at Market Cafe. It gives you a closer view of the action, allowing you to take in the flavorful aroma of a dish being cooked. You can also interact with the cook and direct them to prepare your dish the way you like it. At Market Cafe, you are the boss.

On your next visit make sure to look for Chef Bodjie Vergel de Dio. Not only is he an excellent cook, he is very friendly and can help you decide on your meal. One dish that made an impression was his four flavored pizza. One of the flavors was four cheese which had blue cheese in it. Now I don’t really use blue cheese every time I make a sandwich, but who would have thought melted blue cheese could taste so good? Needless to say I am still not over it that salty, cheesy, mouldy taste.

After enjoying your meal head over to the dessert station and have your fill of your favorite pastries, cakes, and gelato. A must try is the cheesecake, with its distinct zesty flavor. Whatever happens, makes sure to try the mango pavlovia. The balance between its fluffy exterior and fruity interior is heavenly.

Don’t forget to try the guava iced tea. The distinct taste of guava puts an interesting twist to the classic drink. If you prefer something more alcoholic you can head over to the freezer and grab yourself a beer.
