Witty stand-up comedienne Giselle Sanchez is having a one-woman play as ‘Salaminkera’, the famous mirror in fair tale ‘Snow White’. In the story the Evil Queen will often look at the mirror and ask the infamous line “mirror, mirror on the wall … who’s the fairest of them all?” The mirror, all in its honesty, would then respond with “Snow White”, much to the Evil Queen’s anguish.
Unless you’ve been living under a rock for the past century you should be familiar with the tale of Snow White. Written by the Brothers Grimm, it was popularized by Walt Disney as an animated film entitled ‘Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs’. But that’s back in 1937, so perhaps you will be more familiar with ‘Snow White and the Huntsman’, starring Kristen Stewart as Snow White, Chris Hemsworth as the Hunstman, and Charlize Theron as the Evil Queen.
Salaminkera will be a one-act play though, featuring nothing more than the mirror, played by Giselle Sanchez. Written by George de Jesus III and produced by Stages, it will be shown 3 p.m. on June 8 at the Glorietta 1 Activity Center.
Salaminkera is a free show sponsored by Sangobion, an organic iron supplement for women. Formulated specially for modern day women, it helps combat the 3 signs of iron deficiency: paleness, lack of focus, and fatigue.
Watch out for Salaminkera featuring Giselle Sanchez on June 8!
