VMware, Inc. (NYSE: VMW), the global leader in virtualization and cloud infrastructure, held its VMware Connect Technology Day 2012 at the Makati Shangri-La Manila Hotel recently where experts shared their leading insights around the state of virtualization and cloud computing adoption in Manila, and how cloud computing can be a source of competitive advantage.

Establishing that there is no one-cloud-fits-all approach, VMware showed how virtualization is the technical foundation for cloud computing; and how customers can leverage this to transform their datacenters and achieve business transformation through IT transformation. This was made evident by The Philippine America Life and General Insurance Company (Philam Life), one of the country’s largest life insurance companies, as they shared how they were able to maximize virtualization to their fullest advantage.

“By virtualizing our datacentre infrastructure on VMware vSphere®, Philam Life has been able to achieve a lower total cost of ownership by minimizing unnecessary IT infrastructure investments, and benefit from a more cost-effective, self-managed, dynamically optimized environment for the most efficient delivery of IT services. With full control over the availability, reliability, scalability, and security over our IT infrastructure, we are also more responsive to the needs of the business,” said Mr. Romy Cambaliza, Chief Information Officer, Philam Life.
