YKK supports Philippine football, brings in Real Madrid coaches to teach kids

YKK Kid's Football Clinic

“Just For Kicks” kid’s football clinic is the YKK Asao Group’s corporate social responsibility (CSR) project for the year 2012. A leader in fastening products, YKK believes in the philosophy that “no one prospers unless he renders benefit to others”. Dubbed the “Cycle of Goodness”, this philosophy fuels the company’s effort to foster growth and value while doing business.

This year, YKK is bringing three coaches from the popular soccer club Real Madrid to the Ayala Alabang Country Club in Muntinlupa City. From April 13-15, 250 lucky kids aged seven to 15 years old will get a chance to train under the best coaches from Europe.

The press conference at Makati Shangri-La was opened by Francis Laurel, president and CEO of YKK Philippines, Inc. During the conference, Laurel admitted being a long time fan of the sport, having played it during his younger years. Philippine football chief Nonong Araneta applauded the move, which has gained popularity in recent years following the success of the Philippine Azkals.

Also present during the conference were Real Madrid mentors Jaime Torcal Cano, Ivan Garcia Sacristan and Pablo Gomez Revenga. Direct from Spain, the trio believes in molding talent during the early years. Who knows, the next Phil Younghusband or David Beckham may be among the younger generation.

A regional project, Just For Kicks was previously held in Thailand, Sri Lanka, Singapore, Indonesia, Bangladesh, and Vietnam.
